There are a few simple benefits to switch to watch satellite TV on PC or online.

1. Watch Hundreds of Satellite TV Channels

You get to watch dozens of TV channels from stations all over the world. Well, you may not have the time to watch every program but still, the huge number of available satellite TV channels offers you many choices. Pick whichever TV channel you like.

2. Convenience to Watch Satellite TV on PC

Most people own a computer. Many are tech-savvy especially the young ones. Since you are surfing the net, why not make your PC double up as a TV as well? You can save the money on buying your kiddo a new TV for his or her room that way.

3. Get Satellite TV for Free

You can get satellite TV for free when you watch satellite TV on PC. Because your computer is receiving Free To Air TV broadcasts, it does not cost you a single cent to watch satellite TV online. Hope you are not so used to paying your monthly bills to the satellite TV vendors that you can ignore this freebie.

4. Satellite TV has Gone Digital

Digital satellite TV used to be a rarity. But now, the conversion is taking place quickly. As more stations switch to digital, the quality of your satellite TV programs would improve. One good thing about digital is that the bandwidth can condense more programs, meaning there would be more repeat broadcasts at different timings. You can watch your favorite TV show and never worry about missing an episode.

5. Fuss-free Installation

Setting up your computer into a PC satellite TV is not difficult. This is especially so if you are using PC satellite TV software to watch satellite TV on PC. If you have installed any CD driver or application, you would understand that installation takes only a few easy points and clicks.

PC satellite TV software generally costs less than $60 while PCTV cards at the stores can fall within the range of $100 to $300. One thing people complain when they watch satellite TV on PC is the size of the monitor screen. This is no fault of PC satellite TV but it can affect the viewing experience. You can always switch to a larger LCD monitor screen but it can cost you quite a fair bit. Another cheap method is to plug a video card with S-Video output that can be connected to your TV for viewing.

Watch Satellite TV on PC - Edge Over Cable and Satellite TV

Watch satellite TV on PC, conventional satellite dish systems or cable TV? Nowadays, TV viewers are spoilt for choice and it can be challenging to make a choice. Depending on your needs, your home location and budget, there is a whole range of alternatives and different TV program packages for you. The key here is to be well informed about the pros and cons of each system. We will compare the different TV systems and you make your own choice on whether to watch satellite TV on PC or other means. How's that?

If you are not staying in a built up area and do not have access to cable TV, it makes perfect sense and necessity for you to go with satellite TV. After all, you would need a TV antenna in order to receive from the TV earth stations. So adding a satellite dish system is more appropriate, since you neither can watch satellite TV on PC or cable TV. However, this said, not everyone likes the idea of installing a satellite dish on their roofs. Firstly, it can be a hassle and not the simplest chore for folks who are not too hands-on. Secondly, the DIY equipment such as the satellite dish, receiver and decoders, mount, etc is not exactly cheap. Some guys prefer to do it on their own as a hobby. That's perfectly fine but for most folks, it would be better if they can wait out for special deals offered by satellite TV providers which include free installations. Sometimes, the service providers may supply the necessary setup for more than 3 rooms within a household.

Satellite TV provides a much wider coverage that cable TV network. Again, this is not always the case and is true only for advanced satellite TV technology and subscription packages offered by service providers. The heat is always on between satellite TV and cable TV to compete in the space of variety and number of channels. You, as a consumer benefits from either way. However, since the usage of cable is more applicable in built-up areas, they tend to lose out to satellite TV in rural areas. Otherwise, in built-up city areas, it would be a tough fight. There is of course a third option to watch satellite TV on PC which gives you the advantage of more worldwide channels over cable and even conventional satellite TV. Be sure to scout around for good deals.

Reception quality is hardly debatable. Satellite TV systems have gone the route of digital broadcasting. With digital that employs sophisticated signal compression techniques, the resolution is higher and sharper and more channels can be broadcast simultaneously. Even though cable TV is making the move towards digital, unfortunately, a lot of homes are still using analog channels. We all know that analog picture quality is poorer than digital so whether you watch satellite TV on PC or TV, your viewing experience is enhanced.

There is a growing community of satellite TV viewers switching to watch satellite TV on PC for several reasons. Internet users are growing at an astronomical rate and since people are already facing their PCs, it is natural for them to watch satellite TV on PC as well. At the same time, in order to watch satellite TV on PC, you need nothing more than an installed PC satellite TV software and fast internet connection. Satellite TV Trends - Watch Digital TV on Your PC

The reign of the conventional television receiver is coming to an end

For decades the world has been buying and watching standalone TV sets. They've faithfully entertained us and provided us with up to date information or as up to date as was possible in between the adverts. Things are now radically changing. The world you live in is very different from the world of past years, this is a world where digital communications, computers, digital TV, Satellite TV and the Internet are everywhere you look. The computer is now as common in your home as the TV set ever was and I know of many people that have more computers in their home than they have standalone television sets.

Computers are now used routinely for research and information gathering. This used to be done to an extent, by television current affairs and news programmes. Informational TV programmes haven't stopped but they are relied on a lot less than they used to be. It's so much easier to use the Internet now especially when you need information immediately. You can even download movies and TV channels directly from the Internet without paying any subscriptions: Watch Free Movie and TV Online

Is a standalone TV no longer required?

Good question. Computers used to lack the processing power to provide the functionality that your TV set has. This is surprisingly no longer the case. It's surprising because in the early days, it was inconceivable that computers could ever evolve into a product with such capabilities. Today almost all, if not all, modern notebook PCs and desktops are more than capable of receiving, decoding and playing digital TV from sattelite, cable or terrestrial digital TV. While they last you can even watch analogue TV broadcasts.

How to use your PC to watch digital television

When PC TV products first became available a TV or video capture card had to be installed inside your computer box to watch television broadcasts. You were told that anyone could do it but it seemed pretty 'techy' to me. It wasn't suitable for use with notebook PC's because very few notebooks were designed for customisation. Of course notebooks were less common then and they were a lot more expensive so this wasn't such an issue.

Here come cheap powerful notebooks with USB 2 interfaces

Have you seen how powerful notebook PCs are now? Even the cheapest you can get is good enough to watch DVDs and streamed digital video. You might also be surprised when you compare the cost of a notebook PC with a good standalone TV receiver. When I bought my notebook I paid only half as much for it as I did for my TV. Desktop PCs are even cheaper. All modern PCs have fast and convenient USB 2 adapters, which is the magic that allows you to watch satellite, cable or terrestrial TV just by plugging it in.

USB 2 and satellite television

The USB 2 standard PC interface is one of the best advances in computer technology for a long time. It's versatile and fast enough to cope with a variety of different applications including streamed real time digital video. Manufacturers of computer peripherals have jumped on this opportunity to bring you a mountain of products that enhance your computer by simply plugging them into the USB socket.

You will find that there are many USB 2, solutions for receiving, decoding, streaming and watching sattelite, cable and terrestrial TV by simply plugging it into your PC. DVB is the digital TV standard to look out for. It stands for " Digital Video Broadcasting" and there are 3 versions - DVB-C, DVB-S and DVB-T for cable, satellite and terrestrial use.

What are the disadvantages to using digital television USB adapters?

Adding a USB digital TV adapter to your desktop or notebook computer can easily and cheaply turn your computer into a very nice high specification television with all the trimmings of digital storage and time shift viewing etc. If you want to receive encrypted pay for view channels then you will have to use a decoder box that is supplied specifically for the service you are subscribing to. You can of course feed the output of the external decoder box into your PC using a USB 2 analogue video adapter.

Your TV is a computer - Your computer is a TV

Computers aren't going away anytime soon and neither is digital TV and video. Computers are only going to get more powerful at the same time as they get cheaper and digital TV is capable of far more than is being used right now. It won't be too long before the standalone TV set is a thing of the past.
