How To Watch Satellite TV On PC

Nowadays, with the rapid advancement of satellite tv technology, anyone can watch any TV programs around the world. You can even watch live TV coverage of major sporting events right in the comfort of your own home.

To watch satellite TV, you need specialized hardware known as PCTV cards installed on your PC in order to receive the satellite TV feed. There are 2 types, one is external, the other is internal. External PCTV cards usually comes in a box where you can connect it to the PC via USB. The other end will be connected to your telephone line or cable line depending on the type of broadband access you are subscribing. There are also wireless versions available.

The internal TVPC card will be installed into your computer via PCI or PCI Express slot.

The PCTV cards will decode the analog signals into digital signals so that you can watch TV or listen to radio on your PC.

The quality of TV channels will depend on 2 factors.

1) Broadband Speed

To enjoy good quality TV on your PC, you really need to have broadband speeds or DSL speed at least 512 kilobytes per second. The higher the broadband speed the smoother the quality of the Satellite TV channels.

2) Computer Configuration

Most PCTV cards have a minimum PC configuration. Typically, you need a Pentium III CPU at least 1GHz or above, 128MB of RAM, running on Windows 98/2000/XP and have at least 1 USB port for external PCTV cards. You would also need a CD-ROM to install the PCTV card drivers and the viewing software. You also need a sound card installed on your PC if you want audio.

Some PCTV cards also allows the ability to record shows on your computer but bear in mind, it requires a large amount of storage space be available on your hard disk.

New Hot Secret Of Watching Satellite TV On Your PC

I was just reading in a business magazine the other day that cable TV is now losing market to satellite TV. People are willing to pay as high as $100 to get access to Satellite TV in many parts of US and also in other parts of the world. Satellite TV has bigger coverage than Cable TV and this is the main advantage.

Satellite TV, as the word implies is TV broadcasting delivered by satellites. To receive signals from a satellite you need a receiver, a dish and a remote which will be provided if you subscribe for a Satellite TV Services. And of course you would need to pay for the subscription and have the dish installed.

But now you can have Satellite TV right in your house without complying with all the above requirements and without paying monthly subscription? How can that be done?

Apparently, it is the hottest secret now. All you need is a piece of software with a one time purchase payment and you don?t have to worry about the monthly bills and still enjoy watching satellite TV. You don?t even need a TV. You just need your PC or laptop. Wow! I was fascinated when I downloaded and installed on my PC the first time.

Aside from freeing myself from monthly bills, there are also a lot of advantages of satellite TV on PC. I don?t need to purchase an extra hardware to make it work on PC or laptop and I can watch TV anywhere where there?s internet. I watched at the airport, in Starbucks and in my office as well while waiting for appointments.

The best part is it?s legal and it works anywhere in the world. For a traveling executive, nothing beats this. I asked myself why I was paying a Satellite TV company almost $90 a month for some 100+ channels when I could get all these TV channels on my computer.

My guess is the Cable and Satellite TV companies will try their best to keep this a secret for as long as they can. Otherwise, they risk losing their fat profits each year. But for now, this trend will surely continue in popularity.

I tested out 4 companies selling this product. Two were not acceptable. The picture quality was poor. The other 2 were good. These are the Elite Package for Satellite TV on PC and Digital TV on PC

1000 TV Channels on Your Computer??

I saw the ad. Oh boy, I thought. First of all, I'm cheap. Secondly I don't watch much TV. My rabbit ears get the major networks including Fox, plus two public TV stations. But it would would be nice to once in a while get the Discovery and the Disney channel and the like.

One time software purchase and no other fees. Well fortunately I did some checking around the internet. Sorry, no it is not the same as Cable TV. What you get is a directory of webcasts links from around the world with a bookmark system so you can find your favorite channels again.

Don't send money. Instead go to World Wide Internet TV www.wwitv.com . It is free (same type of channels as in the paid listings). As of today they have 1704 online TV stations listed. There are college broadcasts, local, government, religious stations, news, regional sports, music, cultural stations, and even watch NASA live. While the vast majority of the channels will be of the popular variety, you may find special interest broadcasts not otherwise available.

While some channels broadcast live, there are many that are "on demand". You can not only watch the news when you want, but can select which news items you want to see. Discovery has on demand webcasts that you can search through. Comedy Central Station is worth a look. Check out AFTV (USA) for 11 channels of old movies in various genres (but like TV you get whatever happens to be on).

No it is not the same as Satellite TV. But if you want news from New Orleans - you got it. If you have relatives in New Zealand or are planning to visit there, you can find out what's happening. Want to brush up on your Russian. Japanese, Vietnamese or whatever? There are stations from around the world.

Oh and yes, it is free.

Easy Connections Put Satellite TV On Your PC

For those who would like a second television in their home, but are reluctant to spend the money, you can consider watching satellite TV on your PC. While it does not take a vast knowledge of computers and satellites, it does take a couple more pieces of hardware.

While some companies are advertising that with a computer and an internet connection, along with their software available for a one-time fee, a person can begin receiving television shows on their computer once the software is installed. There are also many free to air programs available as satellite TV on your PC, however programming may be limited and for some of the programs you may still have to pay a licensing fee.

In order to watch satellite TV on your PC or listen to the radio, all you need as a PCTV card. One kind is installed in the PC while the other is used as an external device and plugs in to a USB port. Using the computer?s built-in circuitry, these cards can decode the satellite signals, enabling users to watch the free-to-air programming. Either type of card can be used to watch a broadband signal, and while some programs may be available by way of a phone line connection, DSL, satellite signals are typically received at 40 megabyte per second.

Using PC Like A Digital Recorder

Your computer will need to have a minimum of a Pentium II, at 333 MHz processor and Windows 98 or higher operating system. You will also need the PCTV card and an open slot in which it is installed or an open USB port to connect the external device for satellite TV on your PC and a CD Rom drive. If your computer has the Windows media player, real player or quick time, your television viewing will be more even and less jumpy.

In order to receive satellite TV on your PC you can run a cable from your satellite dish directly to the computer?s PCTV card or an available satellite box. You can also connect your PC by running a cable from your satellite system receiver?s RF output to the computer. Direct TV and Dish Network both recommend this method for better picture quality.

Many free broadcasts you can receive as satellite TV on your PC are from all over the world and many will be in languages other than English. However, by watching satellite TV on your PC you can save the programs to your hard drive for later viewing.

Did you know that you can get access to a lot of satellite channels for free without needing any special equipment and without subscribing to the satellite TV providers? This is 100% legal and there are many satellite channels that can be accessed for free if you have the right software or equipment. This article shows you what you need to do if you want to watch free digital satellite TV channels on your computer. If you want to watch the satellite TV programmes on your normal home TV, then you'll need your pc to have the TV out connection. Otherwise, you won't need anything else. Look for software that does not require you to subscribe or pay any recurring charges in order to access the channels. This type of software is available online

The number of channels that you will be able to access will depend on the software that you choose. Some of the software will allow you to watch TV channels from many different parts of the world.
